The Korean Martial Art of Taekwon-Do
My first Taekwon-Do class was in September 1987. I saw an advert in the local paper. It was a photo of two people in a pose, the Instructor, kicking at the head of student (non contact) and I wanted to know more.
At 17 years old, bullied throughout school from and early age, not content, but not unhappy, I decided to go and try it.
Classes were held in one of the town’s high schools. The school gymnasium, with its white walls, high ceiling, walll bars and a spring wooden floor.
I was early and I watched through the window for a bit and when it was time, I walked in to the hall…. (to be continued)
